Romain de Tirtoff ( ERTE ) was born to a distinguished Russian family in 1892. As an ART DECO set and costume designer, he was renowned for his work with 'The Ziegfield Follies'  and  'Folies Bergere' to name just a few. Between the years 1915 to 1937, he designed and illustrated over 200 Harpers Bazaar magazine covers.

In the late 1970s, he virtually took over the Fine Art World with his graphics and sculptures, and the licensing world branded wines, jewelry, clothing items, etc.

Throughout his career his most celebrated image was 'Symphony in Black.'
His work can be found at The Metropolitan museum of Art in NYC and at other great museums throughout the world.
