I offer a course in REAL medieval sword fighting. Its based on the Lichtenhaur school of fighting (aint they all!) however the Talhoffer style is much more suited to the modern age. (Talhoffer claims to be based on Lichtenhaur, but it is generally agreed that was a marketing hype...after all, Talhoffer's style is superior)
Now we know we cannot train you to become the great fighter that Talhoffer was back in the 15th century, but you can certainly get the basics. The footwork, the tricky sword moves that made the mercenary companies of the late medieval and early renaissance superior to most of the landed Great Houses of Europe's standing armies. You would, in eight hours be darned tired from a heck of a great workout, and be able to hold your own in a Viking Shield wall.
An advanced course has been developed, and covers a lot of the dirty tricks that gives Talhoffer the edge over his previous century's mentor. We work more from the bind in the advanced course. This means it is a little more bold. A little quicker. A little more deadly. Only people who already do this art can avoid the basic course as a pre-requisite.
You can see us in action on our Armoured Company of the Sword web site. www.armouredswords.ca
Armour is not required. Safety glasses are required because as you all know, its all fun and games until somebody loses an eye. Then its a sport. I don't teach a sport, I teach an art. And I supply the armour. This is a weapons art, and I provide (safe) wooden sword like objects which you can buy for a measly 35 bucks. Or you can bring your own. Same Same. If what you bring is sharp, I may have you use it very sparingly if at all. We are, after all, honourable gentlemen who don't want to hurt our classmates, right?
I even have a shortie course worked up as a team building exercise. Only 3 hours. And only 200 bucks. Proved popular a couple of years ago when team building afternoons were more common. Something to think about...

South Tower Armouring Guild is a Canadian based "mom and pop" business, registered in Ontario. We have been in business since 1989, and we make and sell suits of medieval style armour, swords, daggers, and chain mail ( most available at 100% barter).
In the downstairs shop, we try to satisfy a miriad of clients each with their own ideas and dreams. I have been attempting to balance the creativity of custom work with the economies of scale of producing a viable shop "line" of products, and THAT is a long ongoing process!
barter possibilities:
custom made armour and related gear custom made "sexy armour" in the Clyde Caldwell Style and with the approval of Clyde Caldwell ( royalties to Clyde must be paid in cash!)
Let us outfit you and your crew for your Medieval Wedding. You can even rent a suit of armour to wear instead of a tux, and nothing can beat an arch of swords by the groomsmen as you come out of the hall!
A medieval birthday party can be spiced up with real knights in full armour.
Belly dancers have had me make Belly Dance swords.
How unusual is that! custom made swords and daggers as well as full steel plate armour can be commissioned on barter for the discerning collector or re-enactor.
Have you considered how you could decorate your store, restaurant or your client's home (or your OWN home) with authentic medieval equipment?
